Tell us about the blog post you were most
nervous to publish — and what it was like to set it free.
This is the post that immediately came to
mind, even though it is almost EXACTLY 5 years old now. I had just started my blog in August, and up
to that point, I made sure I didn’t “speak” too much about the issues and
complications I faced daily with my three year old divorce and care of the
children between my ex and myself. The
island was simply TOO SMALL for me to tackle those topics publicly, so I
avoided them. This is what makes the post even more poignant because I HAD to
write about it. The “new mom” situation
facing me that year impacted me so deeply I could not write without mentioning
it at some point. I even discuss in the
post how nervous I was about posting it, but I distinctly remember feeling
better after “setting the truth” free, so to speak, and releasing my anxieties to
the world to absorb. And all the things
I really feared about the situation resolved themselves within months
anyway. Posts like that are what made it
easier for me 5 years later to write more honestly and freely. They prepared the way for the future of my
evolving blog.
