What are you
more comfortable with — routine and planning, or laissez-faire spontaneity?
Most of the
time, routine and planning work well for me, but I also like a little
laissez-faire spontaneity in my life.
Without a measure of routine and planning, life can become too chaotic,
but it’s important to just go with the flow now and again and take off on an
adventure.
If I had to
narrow it down for you, I’d say my weekdays are filled with routine and
planning. Get up the same time each day, go through the same daily ritual to
get ready for work and leave within the same 10 minute time frame every
day. Work schedule remains the same
every day and a lot of what I do at work is very routine. After work is also full of structure. It’s
home to walk the dog at the same places and basically on the same routes, then
get ready for dinner, feed the dog, eat dinner with the family, work on my
blog, then off to bed within the same hour every night.
Weekends,
well that’s where my dose of laissez-faire spontaneity comes in. We may make last minute dinner plans with out
of town friends who text they are coming into town for the night OR lazy
Saturday mornings turn into ½ hikes with the dog in the rainforest because we
found a good spot on the internet to take dogs.
There’s a great local website for the area, so sometimes I’ll just check
out what the events are for the weekend on Thurston
Talk and ask if anyone wants to go see the Salmon Run or check out a free
family movie on the golf course. I kind of figure that’s what weekends are for
anyway. That way, if you just feel like lying around and watching movies, you
won’t feel bad since it wasn’t planned to begin with. J What
about you? Where’s your comfort zone
lie?
