September 24: Writing Prompt #267-Standstill

For a moment today, time stands still — but you can tweak one thing while it’s stopped. What do you do?

Turns out, this is an easy choice of moments for me today.  Here it is. We had a child who was struggling in the classroom today, and so he had been brought out to management to settle down for a bit.  While I followed him around the lobby, talking to him and trying to convince him to go back to the classroom for nap time, he bolted toward the double doors leading to the big, open parking lot.  I rushed over to scoop him up, and my ankle twisted, toppling me to the floor along with my little friend. Thankfully, no one was hurt, but if I could stop that moment right when my ankle turned out, I would. In fact, if I could go back and change my outfit for the day, in particular, my shoes, I would do that too. I happened to have on chucky healed ankle boots, not any of my trusty “running around with children” shoes, so either one, take your pick. Whichever moment would have stopped me from falling with precious cargo would be my standstill moment of the day.  How about you?
