Tell us about another blogger who has
influenced your own online journey.
Here’s a
list of the blogs I do or have followed in the past that have inspired or
influenced me in one small way or another:
1. Meet John Gray (My brother’s first
blog and at the top of my list as far as favorites go-has influenced me to
practice writing with more insight using less words.)
2. The Dirtbag Way (My brother and a friend’s
blog, providing tips and information on how to live an adventurous life in the
dirtbag way-Inspires me to try and find a way to make my own blog more useful
to others.)
3. Friend of the Soul (Our
former Kwajalein Pastor’s blog-the one who baptized both my boys in the blue
waters of the Kwaj lagoon-influenced me to not be afraid to just write
completely from my heart, exposing mistakes, faults, opinions, and personal
views without being nervous of what others might think along the way.)
4. Cherokee: The Boat, The Blog (Friends
on Kwaj and their adventures sailing their trimaran around the
Pacific-influenced me to write about my own travels early on in my blogging
days.)
5. Our Charmed Life (Again, Kwaj friends
and their journey about settling down in the islands and adopting and raising a
family there-influenced me to share my own daily journey through motherhood and
family life.
6. Grasshopper Legs Girl-(Last,
but certainly not least…this friend and 3rd grade teacher to my oldest son while living on Kwaj is always very straightforward, creative, and
profound in her touching, down-to-earth posts. She has inspired this shy girl
to just keep putting myself out there, like she does.)
There are
others I follow or have followed in the past, several which are more photo
driven than written blogs, but they are one I really admire because I am not
much of a photographer and have not ventured into that area of blogging yet.
And daily, thorough the use of social media, I am finding powerful insight in
the blogs of people I don’t know, and their willingness to put themselves out
there and share their personal lives with the world, but I would say the 5
blogs above are the one that have shaped my own blog the most. I hope you will check some of them out and
see what I mean. Not all are still up
and running or have authors who are still posting regularly, but they are all
worth a read and are about real people with real lives that are unique, yet
regular. We spend so much time reading about celebrities and stories that make
the news, but it’s nice to just read about others like ourselves once in a
while, don’t you think?
