You’ve been asked to speak at your high
school alma mater — about the path of life. (Whoa.) Draft the speech.
High school
was just the beginning. Life really begins after we leave the comforts of our childhood homes. The path of life is like a good, long hike in
the woods. It’s very exciting at first,
being out in the fresh air, looking up into the mossy, green trees, hearing the
birds chirp. After a while, the path leads up, and it gets a little rockier and
narrower, and the air gets thinner, but just for a while. Eventually, it evens
back out and the sounds of rushing water start…around the corner you see a
magnificent 3 tiered waterfall, and you feel at that moment all the hard work
hiking up the mountain was worth it. We
will have our ups and downs along the path of life. We’ll have our rocky days
when the way is narrow, and it seems we are the only ones on this tough path,
but when we reach our goals and see the waterfall, it’s worth it! That
waterfall may be finally finding the job of our dreams, the love of our lives,
or the first sweet smile and gurgle from our newborn’s mouth, but it is worth
the path it took to get there, no matter how high or hard. Some of us may not be to the top yet, but I
encourage you to continue to push forward, to keep going until you reach it and
find your waterfall!
