You have the power to enact a single law.
What would it be?
So in
everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up
the Law and the prophets. Matthew 7:12
Okay, not a
traditional law, but I’d like to enact a law sort of along the lines of the Good
Samaritan Law. Treat others the way you want to be treated. With the Good Samaritan Law, you promise to
provide first aid help only within your knowledge and training to do so, and if
you do so, you are protected from anyone suing you for providing care to them
when they may or may not have been able to tell you they wanted help.
The “Do Unto
Others” law would require people to “walk a day in your shoes” or consider the
other’s perspective before passing judgment or responding in a negative manner
toward people. I know it could never
really be enforced, but maybe it would at least get people thinking. From driving
on the interstate to shopping at the grocery store, many people today have
grown so self-centered, they do not even see who they are about to run
over.
We do have
the power, the power to start and end the day in positivity or end it with a
selfish, complaining attitude. I choose
the former over the later!
