You’re asked to nominate someone for TIME’s
Person of the Year. Who would it be, and why?
How about
our American service members, particularly those who have given their lives for
us and those who have survived tremendous torture and hardships in order to
ensure our freedom, such as Louie Zamperini and even the American Sniper, Chris
Kyle. Years ago, men coming back from
war didn’t talk about it. But today, they are, and the stories they are telling
are horrendous! We are only in this last generation really “getting to know”
our American heroes, the ones who serve to protect us from losing everything
our country stands for. These men and
women who are in areas of conflict today and those who were participants in
past wars and military action can never be recognized enough, in my opinion.
They should be people of the year every year, simply because of all they do for
others.
