November 16: Writing Prompt #320-Love to Love You

What do you love most about yourself? What do you love most about your favorite person? Are the two connected?
I don’t know that I would say I really LOVE anything about myself, but I am proud of the fact that I’m one of those people who fits the cliché, “what you see is what you get.” I consider myself a pretty genuine person. Funny thing is that the thing I love the most about my husband  (from the day I met him) is that he is even more genuine than me.  He says exactly what is on his mind (which I don’t always do-I weigh that one out first, even when I should say what I am thinking because it’s what is needed at the moment). He would never allow anyone to change who he is, and he never has.  He stands up for what he believes in, no matter the cost, and he fights fiercely for common decency, respect, manners, and courtesy. He is the first to not just consider helping, but to run to help others he sees in need, no matter how small the need. If you haven’t figured it out already, yes, the thing I love most about my favorite person and myself are connected.  We are both very individual people who are true to themselves and each other.

I, unfortunately, have not always had a strong sense of trust with those I loved the most in my life, so to be able to trust beyond a shadow of a doubt the person I love is big for me.  And more than that….to understand my love so well and know that he is not hiding anything…he is who he is, means the world to me.  I am amazed at how much of an enigma people can be, especially people you often end up sharing your life with. When you realize you don’t really know this type of person, you start to feel very uneasy and unsure about everything. It makes for an extremely unstable relationship, so I’ll take my genuine relationship over a seemingly “image perfect” one any day of the week and three times on Sunday! J
