What was the last thing you
searched for online? Why were you looking for it?
I googled “ways to celebrate Christmas without presents.” A friend facebooked the other day about her
plans for the holidays involving cutting out the purchasing of so many
presents. That got me thinking (in addition to the fact that money is tighter
living in the states now than it was for us in the islands) about how hard it
is to buy for my boys (they are at that age where they almost prefer cash to
anything else) and about how blessed we already are, having all we need plus
some. What could we possibly buy that’s
needed? Nothing, so that means we would be simply buying to buy because that’s
what you’re supposed to do for Christmas, right?!?!
So, I would like to try minimalizing the holidays a bit this year. Because I do have youngish children, I will not
go completely without even a single present, but I do like the ideas I found
such as helping someone else in the community, spending money on special family
time over the holidays instead of on presents, and/or making a list of what we
are already blessed with instead of a list of what we want for Christmas. Will you join me in taking a step towards less?
